Lalthanhawla "Mizos in Tripura Need Not Fear'

Aizawl, Jan 12 : “You have nothing to fear wherever you are!” This was the message Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla sent out to Mizos living in Tripura during the one-day ‘2nd Zo Hnam Inkhawmpui’ (Zo Tribe Conference) held at Jampui Hills’ Tlangsang village on January 7.

The chief minister was warmly received and greeted by every village with slogans, “Chief Minister of Mizos” and “Guardian of Mizos…Pu Lal Thanhawla”.

It may be mentioned that the Zampui Hill areas in Tripura is inhabited by various Mizo tribes like the Lushais, Halams, Hmars, Krangkhawl, Darlawng, Sakechep, Saihmar, Ralte and others.

The Chief Minister who was accompanied by wife Pi Lal Riliani, Art & Culture Minister Pu P.C.Zoramsangliana, Dampa MLA Pu Lalrobiaka and Hachhek MLA Pu Lalrinmawia Ralte also inaugurated the memorial for ‘Nula Darlalpuii’ at Tlangsang viallge.

Speaking during the meet, Pu Hawla urged his fellow Mizos to work hard and be contented with their respective geographical habitations. “We Mizos are divided and living in other states like Manipur, Tripura, Assam and even in Burma and Bangladesh. But, you must remember that you are the son of the soil wherever you are,” he told the large gathering. Pu Hawla also promised all possible help to the Mizo tribes living in Zampui Hills area.

The Mizo leader and his team, who lauded the efforts of the community leaders in Tripura for trying to unite under a proposed ‘Mizo Inpui’ (Mizo House), were entertained by the people with their own cultural dances and songs.
