Agartala, Jan 14 : The Tripura Government has taken many steps to develop roads and transport network in the state.

With development in progress and the fear of militancy vanishing, the people of Tripura are looking forward to a peaceful life.

The state government has taken up development work not only in the main city, but also in the remote areas.

The 58-kilometer-stretch of road from Dharmanagar to Khedacherra via Dhamcherra is under construction.

The road will help in improving communication, and will be handy in the expansion of trade and other activities with Mizoram and Bangladesh that are close by.

According to Public Works Department Supervising Officer Amaresh Dhar, the entire funding of the project is being done from the North East Council’s non-lapsable pool.

“The project shall be completed in three years time and for completion of the work, the latest machineries are being used and skilled workers have been hired,” he said.

People not only getting employment here and earning money, but the roads are also developing. In the coming days, this will increase busing, as communication shall improve with better road connectivity.

“Earlier, we had a lot of problems, like there we no proper roads and people were scared to move along this route because of kidnapping incidents. But now, we do not have such incidents, said Jagabandhu a local.

After construction is completed, the locals will be able to sell their produce directly in the market.

The development of infrastructure helps in the promotion of trade and commerce, especially in a state like Tripura where the population is widespread because of its geography.
