Indian Army Team to Explore Northeast's Archaeological, Geological Sites

indian army Aizawl, Feb 14 : An Indian Army team, comprising officers and soldiers, was now on an expedition in northeastern states to explore archaeological and geological sites of the region, an official statement said here Friday.

"The expedition team of 24-mountain brigade located in Umroi cantonment at Barapani in Meghalaya during its month-long mission would go to various remote and hilly areas of different northeastern states," said the release issued by Mizoram government.

The army team after exploring the caves of Jayantia and Khasi hills in Meghalaya last week reached Mizoram earlier this week.

"The expedition team during its stay in Mizoram would visit different remote villages of eastern and western part of the mountainous state.

Apart from exploring the archaeological heritage sites, they would also interact with village headmen and locals to learn their life and culture," the release said.
