Revision of Voters List in Mizoram

Aizawl, Feb 2 : Summary revision of electoral rolls began in Mizoram on Monday to enroll young people attaining 18 years of age on January 2010 or before, while the final voters list is expected to be published during March.  

The election department employed the services of teachers in the villages and different localities in the Aizawl city and other towns and the teachers are working in collaboration with the village councils and leaders of different political parties, Lalhmingthanga, joint chief electoral officer said.

Mizoram, having an area of 21,087 sq km and a population of 8,91,058 (2001 census) has 6,29,374 voters in the last revision out of which 91 per cent were already issued electoral photo identity card.
