Dawki (Meghalaya), Jun 22 : While the sound of 'Vuvuzela' horns echo through the stands across faraway South Africa during FIFA World Cup matches, daily business takes a backseat among people in this humble border town with loyalties split between rival contenders.
Colored flags of Brazil, Argentina and other countries flutter on roof-tops depicting divided loyalties within a family or neighbors, but the camaraderie remains.
Even the border skirmishes have been pushed aside as people on both sides of the international boundary are living out a different kind of rivalry in their own locality.
"We watch the game together and on many occasions, the results are a cause for jubilation to one and despair to another," says villager Bormanik Gayang.
