32 Women's Protection Officers designated By Nagaland Govt

http://www.amnestyusa.org/women/i/svaw06.gifKohima, Jul 6 : Under the provision of the Protection of Women from Violence Act, 2008, the Government of Nagaland has designated 32 Protection Officers for all eleven districts of the state.

Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Women and Child Development Chotisuh Sazo disclosed here today that Nagaland was the first state in the North East to implement the Child Protection Scheme initiated by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, which will also tackle all child-related issues.

He said the department was in the process of constituting 'Child Rights' and three Intensive Child Development Scheme (ICDS) projects were underway in Asuto in Kiphire district and Imsong and Athibung in Longleng district sanction for the ICDS projects had already been given for the other eight districts.

Posts of project officers, sub-officers and staff comprising 261 Anganwadi workers had already been filled by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare.

The Parliamentary Secretary also said the Department had constituted Juvenile Boards in all the districts with full establishment facilities.
