Guwahati, Jul 8 : A six-year-old child was killed after Bodo militants blew up a rail track causing six coaches and the engine of a passenger train to derail near Gosaingaon in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Thursday.
The driver and seven others passengers were injured in the incident. The train - Garib Rath - was on its way from Guwahati to Kolkata when the incident took place.
A relief train was immediately sent to the derailment spot to take the passengers to their destinations.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, two blasts took place on the tracks near Dhekiajuli.
The spate of attacks comes amid reports of the Bodo militant group National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) planning serial blasts in the state.(Bomb found on railway tracks in Assam)
Trains cancelled
In view of security concern about safe running of trains, it has been decided to cancel the following trains in Rangiya - Mukongselek section with effect from July 8, 2010 untill further advice.
Cancelled Trains:
(1) 770/ 769 Rangapara - Rangiya Inter City.
(2) 759/760 Rangapara - Rangiya Inter City Passenger.
(3) 757/758 Rangiya - Rangapara Passenger.
(4) 5814/5813 Murkongselek - Rangiya Arunachal Express.
(5) 762/761 Murkongselek - Rangiya Passenger.
