NGO Appeals Manipur Govt to Check Child Trafficking

trafficking of children Imphal, Sep 22 : An NGO, Public Monitoring Committee, has urged the Manipur government to check trafficking of children.

The president of the organisation Phenri Remei said special attention should be given to fight the menace as there is an increasing trend of child trafficking in Manipur.

The need of the hour is to use the intelligence wing, police, Army and strong action should be taken up against those involved and especially the master mind behind the fresh spurt of such acts, he demanded.

He revealed that three children of Longmai (Noney) NH-53 , Tamenglong district were rescued by their parents from Bishnupur Bus Parking, Moirang Leikai and Imphal on September 17 last while the minors were about to board a bus.

They are all studying in Domini English School, Noney Bazar, NH-53.

The children later told their parents that they were going to meet one Michael Nepali, a contact person for their journey to Chennai to earn a livelihood.
