Naga Mothers Appeal To Rebel Groups To Shed No More Blood

naga mothers associationKohima, Mar 19 : Expressing concern over the prevailing inter-factional conflicts, the Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) today appealed to all Naga rebel groups to respect the Covenant of Reconciliation.

In a release issued here the NMA asked all the rebel groups to respect the commitment made by signing the Covenant of Reconciliation 'at this crucial time'.

''As mothers we reiterate our slogan ‘Shed no more blood’ and appeal to all our national workers to work together to bring peace to our land in the interest of our future generation,'' the release said.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organisation (ENPO) cautioned the warring Naga factions against hostilities in the ENPO areas.

The Organisation said in a note that it ''shall not extend any public cooperation to any faction or groups for non-compliance''.

The ENPO took exception to the reported factional clashes on March 17. It said the decision was taken in a recent meeting with a resolution not to have bloodshed, threat, intimidation or any form of violence within its jurisdiction, including Naga territories of Myanmar.
