Most pedestrians only have to worry about rogue pieces of gum or, on really pad days, a well-placed pooch pile defacing the bottom of their shoes and UNICEF believes they should count themselves lucky and count out some change for those with far bigger problems.
In order to raise awareness of the dangers posed by landmines, the organization started “mining” the area in front of their booths with stickers where the adhesive was on the top and would stick to people’s shoes at the same time informing them that had it been a landmine they would have been mutilated.
The campaign seemed to work seeing that visits to the booths doubled and donations increased.
