Imphal, Apr 26 : Parents of thousands of students who appeared in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination in March this year are worried at the unavoidable delay in the declaration of results.
It will mean that the students will not be able to get admission in good institutes in other parts of the country.
In view of the deteriorating law and order situation, frequent closure of schools and interference from various elements, the educational scenario in Manipur has been in a sorry state.
Parents who can afford it, have been sending their children outside the State.
Talking to journalists on Sunday, several parents said that if the results of the HSLC examinations were not declared by March, their children would miss the bus.
However talking to ISTV, a local television news channel, K. Birachandra, Controller of Examinations of the Board of School Education, Manipur, said that it was impossible to declare the results by March since examination of the answer scripts had not been completed as yet.
The Board had planned to conduct the examinations from February 25 so that the successful students could get admission elsewhere.
However the government had issued an order asking the Board not to conduct examinations before March 15 because most of the school teachers would be used in the Census work.
He said the Board would try to declare the results by June this year. But then, it would be too late for the students to get admission in other parts of the country.
