African students accused of breaching peace appear in court

: Nine African students accused of breaching peace during an incident in which a Mizoram boy was lynched, today appeared in a local court.

Johny F Lalhmangaih Zuala (20) was kicked to death by a group of two Sudanese students and a Tanzanian over some trivial issue during the football match between Mizo and Sudanese students in Lovely Professional University here.

The scuffle took place on the evening of April 26. The nine Africans, out on bail, were asked by the Sub-divisional Magistrate Amarjit Paul to again appear before him on May 24.

An official of Sudan Embassy accompanied them to the court sources said, adding that they were again taken to New Delhi.

The nine are Yusuf Musa, Hosam Abdul Hafis, Asad Krar, Ahed Hasablas, Hashim Salah, Mohammed Issah, Taisar Abad, Ahmed Mustafa (all from Sudan) and Tanzanian Jahia Faizal.

The three-main accused in the case are Hashim Idrish, Ahmed Althani (Sudanese) and Syed Faizal (Tanzanian).

They are under police custody after being booked under section 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.
