Aizawl, Jun 23 : The name of a senior Mizo IFS officer, who is currently serving as Indian Ambassador to Venezuela, has been recommended for the new Mizoram Chief Information Commissioner.
A selection committee, comprising of Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, opposition leader Dr R Lalthangliana and Information minister Zodintluanga, today unanimously picked senior diplomat Laldingliana to hold the post of state CIC, which has been lying vacant since early February, 2010.
The recommendation was sent to the state governor for his consent.
Sources said the Central government has allowed Mr Laldingliana to go on a voluntary retirement on July 31. He is scheduled to arrive in Aizawl on August 9 and will be inducted on the next day.
The State Information Commission has been functioning without the CIC since the retirement of Robert Hrangdawla in early February, 2010.
